Aug. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Hearing Loss can affect anyone, and the number of people affected by the condition is on the rise. In this article we will go over some statistics provided by the National Institute of Deafness and Other Hearing Disorders (NIDCD), which will give an insight into those affected by hearing damage.

According to NIDCD, around 36 million Americans suffer from hearing health problems. The majority of people suffering from loss of hearing are 75 years of age or older. There is also an 18 percent of American adults who suffer from hearing damage, between the ages of  45-64 years old.

Children may also suffer from a hearing condition. As NIDCD states “About 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born deaf or hard-of-hearing. Nine out of every 10 children who are born deaf are born to parents who can hear.” Which is why it is important to perform a hearing test on your child as early as possible.

If you believe you may suffer from loss of hearing, contact your local Audiologist, such as Dr. Joseph Duran. This expert will provide you with a hearing test, to help diagnose and treat the condition.
