‘Landscape architecture to add value to Anuva’

Urban designer and landscape architect Paulo Alcazaren gives new light to the art of landscaping
July 25, 2011 - PRLog -- In condominium developments, landscaping is an integral part of the package that ultimately attracts buyers to purchase a unit or two in the residential development.

For urban designer and landscape architect Paulo Alcazaren, it is more than sprucing up a place with plants and a fountain or two. Landscaping, he said, is creating outdoor settings for modern lifestyles that merge architecture and nature in a seamless blend.

He laments, however, how the increasing urbanization of modern life has decreased the quality of life, especially in residential communities. He said that a lot of Filipinos live in crowded subdivisions in the cities or near them, where there is little open space or access to amenities, and where the views from one’s windows are garages or the neighbor's dirty laundry. Neither do children in these communities have playgrounds, and if any, it is usually no bigger than one’s garage.

This, Alcazaren said, is what his company PGAA Creative Design brings its extensive experience to bear in Anuva, the new premium development in the booming East Service Road corridor in Cupang-Buli -Sucat area. PGAA has completed over 200 projects in 14 countries. A good number of these projects are residential enclaves in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and the Middle East.

Anuva's architecture and interiors are a stylish blend of modern Asian and Filipino styles but what really adds even more value is the project's landscape architecture.

In the sidelines of recent groundbreaking of the 2.4-hectare soon-to-rise resort themed development, Alcazaren said, “PGAA specializes in green architecture. For Anuva,  Alcazaren said that they started with understanding what cosmopolitan Filipinos needed and wanted, and what would make the project distinctive and delightful at the same time. The formula they developed has the ingredients of extensive green spaces, expansive water in ponds, pool and fountains, and extremely fun and fascinating amenities.

In an interview during the same event, SOC Land President John Paul Reyes expounded on these salient features of the condo.

He said, “We will change the way Filipinos dream of affordable quality condo homes by incorporating in the project several features that were unusual if not thought of being impossible in similar developments.”

These, according to Reyes, include the higher-than-industry’s 80 percent open space, tandem-style building whose orientation has been planned to reduce the units’ direct exposure to the sun, the low density layout and the unique squarish configuration of units.

Reyes also said that they are introducing in the development a new “perimeter road” concept, which allows residents, especially the children, to safely go to common areas where the amenities are located without having to cross roads.

The extensive green includes over 300 shade trees and palms, close to 100,000 shrubs and close to 3,000 square meters of lawns and ground covers. Anuva will also have the first “river” within a development with its resort-style lazy river topping the list of its numerous amenities. These include a 50-meter lap pool, lagoon and lake, plus themed parks and gardens, clubhouse and function rooms.

The extremely fun and fascinating amenities including play courts, playgrounds, jogging paths and lanais and al fresco nooks in between buildings cover another 2,000 square meters or so of wonderfully open space accessible and distributed among all the units of the development.
