(1) classification according to the degree of caries

Shallow caries (enamel or cementum caries caries): caries limited to enamel or cementum site but have not yet reached dentin.

In dental caries (shallow dentin caries): caries has progressed to the dentin enamel or cementum shallow stage.

Deep caries (deep dentin caries): caries lesions has been developed to deep dentin, forming a deep cavity, close to the pulp, but not when caused by irreversible pulpitis.

(2) parts of the lesions classified by

According to the occurrence of caries in the tooth surface area, divided into pit and fissure caries, smooth surface caries, cervical caries, root caries and caries, etc.

(3) according to the progress of disease classification

According to the rate of progress of dental caries can be divided into three types, namely chronic caries, acute caries, caries and secondary caries still.
