The recent rehabilitation of Linfield College's historic library led to the selection of radiant ceiling panels for both heating and cooling — one of only four such systems in Oregon.

The library building, built in 1936, offered inadequate space to install a modern heating and cooling system. Going green with the panels was the really only thing that would work. It will also afford the college a 30 percent decrease in net energy use.

"This renovation has been one of the most complicated, challenging projects of my entire career," said Bob Krippaehne, senior project manager for Portland-based Walsh Construction Co., in a press release.

Linfield also worked with SRG Partnership Inc. on the remodel.
