Playa del Carmen Real Estate – Area to Receive Higher, Preventative Summertime Security

July 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Along with the beautiful beaches, and the small, provincial atmosphere, one of the key features which Playa del Carmen real estate has offered buyers.  While the area is currently among the safest in Mexico and Latin America, the government continues to invest in preventative programs to keep it this way; the most recent of these focuses on security during summer vacations 2011.

To give people confidence, the government implemented “Operation Solidaridad Summer 2011” (“Solidaridad is Playa del Carmen’s municipal name.) The mayor, Filiberto Martinez, reported that there will be four monitoring points in the tourist area, in addition to the programs that the head of Public Safety and Traffic implemented for the roads and highways in the municipality.

The operation began this July 11 and will end on 21 August. To achieve the monitoring and protecting of visitors, the areas of Civil Defense, Public Security, Fire, Police, Tourism, Traffic, Red Cross, Navy Department and the Federal Preventive Police (PFP) established a coordinated system.

Genaro Alamilla, civil protection director, said the surveillance points were Las Piñatas, Shangrila, Punta Esmeralda and El Faro (the famous downtown “Lighthouse” landmark).  The focus is the protection of people, with lifeguards, and paramedic staff.

The Director of Public Security, Transit and Fire, also said special programs were being applied to prevent speeding and to stop drunk drivers.  The program will be carried out at the 2 checkpoints established by the federal highway personnel.  It will check that drivers and passengers wear seat belts and inform people of the importance of the 066 emergency number.

As stated above, Playa del Carmen is already one of the safest areas in Mexico and Latin America.  Programs like this one play a central role in maintaining this very high level of safety.

While the program focuses on tourists, both programs such as this one and the general atmosphere of safety are a significant benefit to real estate buyers.  Many Americans and Canadians are a little sceptical of buying and living in a new country; in Playa del Carmen, they can do so with confidence that they are living in a safe community.
