July 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Several members of The Charity Learning Consortium are taking an active part in the World of Learning Conference (WOLCE) at the NEC in Birmingham on 27 & 28 September – including Consortium founder and Managing Director Martin Baker.

Nancy Ouma, Assessment & Training Manager at VSO, will be presenting on the hot topic of social learning. VSO is using social media really creatively, using a Moodle forum to help train its volunteers.

Peter Coley, Head of Learning & Development at St Mungo's, the charity which helps homeless people, will be focusing on what happens after training, and – vitally - how you get behaviour to then change. He also focuses on this subject in a recent post on the Charity Consortium blog.

“L&D professionals have a key role to play in ensuring that as much learning as possible is retained, and more importantly, applied in the workplace, to ensure ROI is delivered and that the business case for learning continues to resonate,” Peter says in his blog post.

Gareth Gilleeney, Learning & Development Manager at housing and homelessness charity Shelter, will be joining Martin Baker on the lunchtime panel debate. Martin is the founder and Managing Director of the Consortium and CEO of leadership and management online development specialists LMMatters. The topic up for debate is: ‘How can L&D deliver with reduced time and budgets?’

Martin Baker commented: “I’m really pleased to see Charity L&D get the recognition that it deserves. Doing ‘More for Less’ has always been a mantra in charity L&D, and it’s great to see our members talking about the innovative, cost effective work that they are doing.”

Charities get a special 50% discount via the Consortium to attend the World of Learning Conference and Exhibition. Members of the Consortium should use the code CLCMEM when booking, charities who are not members but may be interested in the work of the Consortium, please use the code CLCNON.

The Charity Learning Consortium will also be exhibiting at WOLCE – come and see us at stand number E140
