F.A.A. Grants Certification To Whirly Bird LLC For Their Cost Effective Helicopter Flight Simulator

June 28, 2011 - PRLog -- The F.A.A. has granted certification to Whirly Bird LLC for their cost effective Whirly Bird Helicopter Simulator.  The Whirly Bird Helicopter Simulator can train both VFR and IFR flight scenarios, as well as procedural and emergency situations. Craig Shepherd CEO/CFI of Whirly Bird LLC states: “This is an important certification for the helicopter community.  It helps give more flight schools and operators the ability to purchase flight simulators for their pilot training, which in turn helps produce safer more prepared pilots.  Helicopter flight schools and operators no longer have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for a high quality, F.A.A. certified simulator.”  

The simulator utilizes a 37 inch HD main flight display along with two 19 inch HD right and left side “out the window view” monitors. The cyclic, collective with twist grip throttle, and the anti torque pedals are all constructed out of heavy gauge metal enclosures; and the comfortable pilots seat is made out of leather.  An 18 inch TFT touch screen instrument monitor displays all the gauges, and fully operational switch, rotary knob, and push button panels, along with a WAAS GPS unit, Com 1, Com 2, Nav 1, Nav 2 radios stacks and mode C transponder round out the hardware and avionics. A high fidelity sound system adds to the realism of the training, and a dual monitor instructor station that allows full control of the session, is also built into the simulator complete with table and chair.

The entire simulator comes in a custom travel case making the simulator extremely portable by use of a dolly.  The simulator only takes “two minutes from case to cockpit” to set up, and the small footprint makes it ideal for any size room. Flight schools, law enforcement agencies, government/military agencies, off-shore operators, universities, high schools, and private home users are some of the people who can benefit from the new revolutionary helicopter simulator.
