1.1   Overview

The Developer works in a project team and produces websites, intranets and other business solutions using the latest web technologies.

1.2   Goals

1.3   Roles & responsibilities

•   Design, code, test, correct, and document complex programs and program modifications from supplied specifications using agreed standards and tools.
•   Report on work carried out and contribute written material of publication quality.
•   Apply data analysis and data modelling techniques to establish, modify or maintain a data structure and its associated components (entity descriptions, relationship descriptions, attribute definitions).
•   Assist with design of components of larger systems. Produce detailed designs including physical data flows, file layouts, common routines and utilities, program specifications or prototypes and backup, recovery and restart procedures.
•   Translate and implement development project requirements into database structures.
•   Assess proposed changes to object and data structures and implement these changes in databases.
•   Coordinate the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.
•   Discover and articulate the client issues and business goals.
•   Identify client styles and tailor engagement.
•   Recognise and manage potential issues.
•   Approach situations in a positive and constructive way: provide solutions, not problems.
•   Consider and create options and objectively consider other viewpoints.
•   Identify or create business opportunities or improvements.
•   Take personal ownership. Demonstrate accountability and responsibility. Constantly seek to improve self, the team and the company.
•   Within given research goals, build on and refine appropriate outline ideas for research, i.e. evaluation, development, demonstration and implementation.
•   Help establish requirements for the implementation of changes in the business process.
•   Assist in the analysis of stakeholder objectives and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems and identify options for consideration.
•   Work with clients to define acceptance tests.
•   Undertake complete design of simple applications using simple templates and tools.
•   Use available resources to gain an up-to-date knowledge of any relevant IT field.
•   Contribute to evaluating the factors to be addressed in the change programme.

1.4   Skills & experience

1.4.1   Required skills & experience

•   Fully knowledgeable in asp.net and C# development (to most recent version).
•   Knowledge of and experience with W3C coding standards for accessibility
•   Knowledge of and experience with creating and customising all aspects of SharePoint
•   Knowledge of and experience with administration and configuration of SharePoint
•   Experience developing Web Services, SQL Server (programmability)
•   Experience developing and integrating with 3rd party API’s
•   Experience packaging customised items into features
•   Experience providing estimates for deliverables
•   At least three years experience coding in the latest web technologies: XHTML, CSS, JavaScript
•   Experience of creating and customising SharePoint components, including Master Pages, Page Layouts, Themes, Pages, Content Types
•   Experience using XSLT to manipulate control/web part display
•   Familiarity with/awareness of object-oriented architectures and approaches
•   An understanding of development practices such as source control, change management and technical documentation
•   Knowledge of and experience with Windows Server 2003/2008

•   Experience developing other MS platforms (including Biztalk, CRM and Commerce Server
•   Experience developing Windows Forms
•   Knowledge of and experience with Database administration
•   Knowledge of and experience with IT infrastructure / systems administration

•   Knowledge of and experience with Silverlight
