Microsoft demonstrates MPC Data’s Remote FX implementation on Beagleboard-XM based thin client

June 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Microsoft Technical Evangelist – Olivier Bloch – recently demonstrated the Windows Embedded Compact 7 based Remote FX capability in his online blog spot: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/obloch/archive/2011/06/02/remotefx-on-windows-embedded-compact-7.aspx.

This latest technology is indicative of how ARM based products are now enabling very small footprint, low power products in the thin client computing space.

There are many documented benefits of thin and zero clients, but the inclusion of Remote FX by MPC Data into Windows Embedded Compact 7 (WEC7 – the new name for WinCE) allows the user to have the full desktop experience – without the need for a PC.

In Olivier’s blog you will see an embedded video, where Olivier talks about having a low cost – low power - fast booting client – running from Flash memory rather than disk.

Olivier moves on to talk about the streaming of high quality video and the USB re-direction – not previously seen on thin clients – and shows the Beagleboard-XM connecting to a VM server with and without Remote FX enabled.
