May 26, 2011 - PRLog -- LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – On June 1, the New Jersey Entrepreneurial Network (NJEN), a non-profit organization providing educational and informational services to entrepreneurs and investors, will host “A Gathering of Angels” from noon to 3 p.m. at the Princeton Marriott Hotel and Conference Center at Forrestal in Princeton, N.J. The roundtable discussion will give local entrepreneurs the opportunity to meet with representatives of seven regional angel groups to learn how to get their startup businesses funded.

According to NJEN, angel investors fund more businesses, and at earlier stages, than venture capitalists. While the organization of angel groups is a relatively recent development, it solves a lot of problems for both startup companies and the angels themselves. Angels become easier to find, and these groups enable the investors to pool their resources and invest more money in a greater number of deserving startups. NJEN has now made the angel groups easier to find. Participants are even encouraged to bring their businesses’ executive summaries for review.

Moderated by Randy Harmon of New Jersey Small Business Development Centers, the roundtable will use a combination of Q&A time and the organization’s unique “reverse venture fair format” in which local entrepreneurs will be able to meet individually with each of the representatives. The panel will consist of several of the region’s leading angel groups, including Arve Hanstveit of New York Angels (www.newyorkangels.com); Karen Griffith Gryga of Mid-Atlantic Angel Group Funds (www.magfund.com); a representative of Tri-State Ventures (www.tristateventures.com); Katherine O'Neill of Jumpstart NJ Angel Network (www.jumpstartnj.com); Tom Olenzak of Robin Hood Ventures (www.robinhoodventures.com); J. David Owens of Delaware Crossing Investor Group (www.delawarecrossing.org); and Gina Tedesco of Golden Seeds (www.goldenseeds.com).

The event is sponsored by Stevens & Lee. Supporting organizations include Einstein's Alley, the New Jersey Institute of Technology Enterprise Development Center, the New Jersey Technology Council, the New Jersey Business Incubator Network, the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Innovation NJ and the New Jersey Small Business Development Center (Rutgers).

“A Gathering of Angels” will be held June 1 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Princeton Marriott Hotel and Conference Center at Forrestal (100 College Road East) in Princeton, N.J. Cost is $45 per person, pre-registered and pre-paid by 5 p.m. by May 27, or $55 at the door. A full buffet lunch and dessert will be provided. Pre-register by credit card at www.njen.com or by check mailed to NJEN, 11 Honey Lake Drive, Princeton, N.J., 08540.
