May 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Apple’s rumored cloud-based music service could hit a huge problem with mobile service providers’ data cap restrictions according to Apple accessories seller iThrough (http://www.ithrough.com/?utm_source=SM&utm_medium=PR&utm_campaign=SM_PR_IT08).

It is rumored that Apple is creating a multi-million dollar virtual data service where people can purchase songs and have them hosted on Apple’s own servers rather than their own iPhones, iPods or iPads and then stream that media anytime they would like.

Rumors gained ground recently when the technology giant paid one point seven million US  for a piece of land in  North Carolina.

Some industry insiders say the firm came to an agreement with major record labels regarding media licensing rights.

However, Carol Chang, public relations manager for iThrough suspects that the manufacturer of the iPhone, iPad and iPod might be up against more than just record companies with this plan.

“When somebody stores something ‘on the cloud’ then they need to use an internet connection to access it,” said Mrs Chang. “Contrary to popular belief strong 3G connectivity and WiFi is not ubiquitous across the world, it isn’t even spread evenly through many developed world countries.”

In addition to this many mobile network providers in developed countries were setting up data caps to limit the amount of wireless  surfing smart phone users can do.

“Apple will have to resolve these issues in the mid-short term if its service is to be viable,” said iThrough’s Carol Chang.

Mrs Chang believes, however, that mobile devices will  play an growing role in music and video delivery no matter where those files are stored.

“Sales of mobile earphones and speakers are a growing part of the iThrough business,” said Mrs Chang. “More customers want to have a device that acts as a multimedia player, computer, camera and phone regardless of what form it takes when it gets to them.”
