Ramada Plaza hoping for third award of the year

May 19, 2011 - PRLog -- A leading hotel is one of only two in Southport to be shortlisted for a prestigious Merseyside award - which could prove to be its third win of 2011.

The Ramada Plaza will go head-to-head with Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa and five other venues across Liverpool and The Wirral for the Hotel of the Year category in the Merseyside Partnership Tourism Awards.

General Manager Enda Rylands explained that the hotel is hoping to pick up its third accolade of the year, after two members of staff took home first prizes at the Southport Ambassador Awards in March.

He said: “To be shortlisted for this award is a magnificent achievement for everyone associated with the hotel, which opened less than three years ago. We have worked extremely hard to get to this stage and to win this award would add to our growing reputation across Merseyside.”

The awards ceremony, which celebrates the best performing companies in Merseyside, will be held at the BT Convention Centre in Liverpool on May 26.  

The Merseyside Partnership estimates nearly £3billion is spent in the area every year and 41,000 people are employed within the tourism sector. Mr Rylands said he hoped this would translate to a busy summer this year.  He said: “It would appear more people are choosing to holiday in England instead of abroad and places like Southport are a popular choice.”

The Ramada Plaza, which is under the management of thenhospitality, has several offers throughout the summer for guests to stay at the hotel and visit local theme parks and attractions.
