May 18, 2011 - PRLog -- History buffs and paranormal enthusiasts alike will want to put “Summer Sundays” at Ballestone-Stansbury House on their calendars this year.

Built in the late 1700s through the early 1800s, Ballestone-Stansbury House in Essex, MD, was once a working plantation. In September 1814, the sounds of the Battle of North Point and the firing of guns at Fort McHenry, the birthplace of the Star-Spangled Banner, resounded across the waters of the Back River to those living there at the time.  Trustees of the late Isaac Stansbury in 1836 listed the two-story brick house on a 180 acre tract of land.  The 2 1/2 story structure is built in the Federal Style, and its brick walls laid in Flemish bond.

Ballestone-Stansbury House will be open for tours during the months of May, June, and August from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sundays with special events scheduled periodically. Admission donation is $3 for adult and only $1 for children 11 and under. The gallery is now featuring a new exhibit called “Household Elegancies: Design Influence in 19th and Early 20th Century Decorative and Applied Arts.” For more information, see the website (http://www.ballestonestansburyhouse.org), email: ballestonehouse@aol.com, or call Colleen at 410-574-4654.
