PRLog -- These social skills groups for children who find interacting with others difficult or uncomfortable were developed by two seasoned professionals Edla Prevette, M.Ed. and Elizabeth Worley, M.Ed. They have integrated the work they do at Project Enlightenment and there many years of experience with school age students to create these groups. The Flip Educational Consulting trainers have a wealth of experience teaching adults and provide a variety of trainings in Wake County and surrounding areas on supporting and managing children’s issues.
Why Flip? At Flip Educational Consulting, they focus on helping children and adults reframe, rethink then refresh their perspectives;
thus “flipping your thinking.” The website describes an array of opportunities for children and adults to participate in groups and trainings to learn these valuable skills. All of the groups and trainings provided by Flip Educational Consulting are individually created to accommodate the needs of the participants. “When we coordinate and collaborate with the parents of the children in our social skills group, we find that the time spent together is most beneficial for everyone.” reports Ms. Worley.
Social skills groups have been demonstrated to provide a significant benefit to both the child and the family. The Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (www.casel.org)
, CASEL, reports that “extensive evaluations have found that social and emotional learning enhances academic achievement, helps students develop self-management and self-control, improves relationships at all levels of the school-community, reduces conflict among students, improves teachers’ classroom management, and helps young people to be healthier and more successful in school and life.” Flip consultants believe that practicing these skills in authentic social settings with the support of experienced, caring adults will give children the opportunity to foster their social and emotional development. In Flip Educational Consulting groups, this is exactly the environment that is provided to enable the children to practice the social skills they find challenging and puzzling.
