Other muscles in the back are associated with the movement of the neck and the shoulders. The goal is to test your strength and stability at thecenter of your body known as(CORE) or the midsection. Assessing yourself, you need a flat surface, mat, and a watch or clock with second counter. begin testing: 1-Position the watch or clock where you can easily see it. 2-Start in the Plank exercise position (elbows on the ground)hold for 60 seconds. 3-Lift your right arm off the ground and hold for 15 seconds. Return your right arm to the ground and lift the left arm off the ground and hold for 15 seconds. 4-Return the left arm to the ground and lift the right leg off the ground and hold for 15 seconds. 5-Return your leg to the ground and lift your left leg off the ground and hold for 15 seconds. 6-Return your left leg to the ground and lift your right leg and left arm off the ground and hold for 15 seconds. 7-Return your right leg and left arm to the ground and lift your left leg and right arm off the ground and hold for 15 seconds. 8-Return to the Plank exercise position with elbows on the groundand hold for 15 seconds. If complete you have good (CORE)strength or your midsection is in excellent shape. If you didn't complete the evaluation, then you need to improve your midsection strength. The center of your body is weak. Weakness in your muscles at the center of your body lead to poor balance and lack of efficiency in your movements. This results in wasted energy and poor biomechanics. The major muscles of your core include: TVA-transverse abdominis Internal obliques Rectus abdomins Erector spinae These are primary specific major muscles which make or break the midsection of your body. These group of muscles are beside the general muscles of the core group; the abdominal wall, lower back, obliques, and the hamstrings.
