Connect Campaign Announcement One of Many Highlights of Harrisburg University 2011 Commencement

May 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Several hundred people are expected to attend Harrisburg University of Science and Technology’s 2011 Commencement and Partners Day event on Thursday, May 12th, 6:30 pm at the Whitaker Center Sunoco Theatre in Harrisburg.

The Honorable Pedro A. Cortés, the first confirmed Latino Cabinet member and the longest serving Secretary of State in Pennsylvania history, will give the Commencement Address.

Among the many highlights of the event will be the University recognizing individually each graduate who attends commencement. Each graduate will walk to the area in front of the stage, where his or her name will be announced and he or she will receive congratulations.

In addition to the excitement of commencement, a special announcement will be made at this year’s ceremony regarding CONNECT: The Campaign for Harrisburg University, a $40-million inaugural comprehensive fundraising drive that launched July 1, 2006 and is scheduled to conclude by June 30, 2011.

The University’s location in downtown Harrisburg is near Interstates 83 and 81 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, making it an easy drive to the University from any of Pennsylvania’s major cities. And it’s only a two-hour drive from the University to Baltimore, Washington, DC or Philadelphia. The Amtrak Passenger Train Station and Greyhound Bus Station are one block from our location.
