Special Dinner featuring Kabaj Wines with owner Jean-Michel Morel at Bar Bambino May 19th

May 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Paying tribute to its Central and Eastern European influenced menu, Bar Bambino is pleased to announce its second regional wine & cuisine dinner of the year with a salute to the wines of Kabaj in Slovenia.  Having recently returned from a gastronomic tour through Friuli and Alto Adige, proprietor Christopher Losa, Chef Elizabeth Binder, and Pastry Chef Alyce Shields have created an exciting menu for the limited seating dinner on 19 May 2011 from 7-10 PM.  Special guest, Kabaj winemaker Jean Michel Morel will guide diners through six of his wines paired with a menu Chef Binder has created inspired by her recent travels.  

Highlights of the 4-course, wine-paired menu include a shellfish brodetto steamed in pinot grigio with saffron and flaked Hungarian paprika and a grappa roasted duck with savory cherry jus and a napoleon of crispy potatoes and fava beans.   Seating for this special dinner with the worldly and passionate Jean-Michel Morel is limited to 20 people at a price of $85 per person (gratuity and tax not included).  Throughout the evening in the main dining room, all the wines being presented will be available at special pricing. About Kabaj Winery
Located on the Italian/Slovenian border in Goriška Brda, the Kabaj family has farmed vineyards for generations. Under Yugoslav Communism they, like all grape growers sold their fruit to the state. In the early 90’s Slovenia disbanded from Yugoslavia and after decades of collective production, private wine producers were allowed to resurrect this long heralded wine region that predates the Romans. In 1993 French enologist Jean Michel Morel and his wife Katja Kabaj released the first wine of the estate under her family name. Today Kabaj makes thoroughly modern wine by combining an individual grape growing locale, indigenous varieties, French wine making expertise, time tested ancient methods and Jean Michel’s desire to create in the glass what he tastes in his imagination.
