April 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Liverpool's Empire Theatre will host a series of performances of Beauty and the Beast by the Birkenhead Operatic Society this spring.

Taking its cue from the Disney movie and Broadway production, the show will feature classic songs, colourful characters and humour and romance in equal measure.

Running from Wednesday May 11th to Saturday May 14th 2011, the family-friendly experience will bring the magic of the well-known plot to the north-west venue with the help of a huge cast.

In a statement, the organisers remarked: "The enchanting story-line and inspiring costumes will capture your imagination and transport you into that 'Tale as old as Time'."

While the Disney film was released in 1991, it was not until 1994 that the musical was put together by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.

The production will be staged at 19:30 BST every evening, with a matinee show at 14:30 also available on the Saturday.

Tickets range in price from £18.50 to £25.75 including booking fees and can be purchased online.
