| Super Sonic Bloodhound Show Car To Make A Pit Stop At Stoke on Trent CollegeEmployers and business leaders are invited to Stoke on Trent College as the full-size Bloodhound super sonic show car makes a pit stop at the Burslem campus.
By: Jane Shepherd The Business Breakfast takes place on the 4th, at 7.30am. Businesses who have not yet received an invitation can contact the College on 01782 603180. The Bloodhound super sonic car is making headlines in its bid to beat the land speed record - with a target of 1,000 mph. Billed as the engineering adventure for the 21st century - pushing the limits and inspiring a generation of young engineers and scientists - The Bloodhound has the equivalent horse power of 180 Formula One cars. It is powered by both a jet engine and a hybrid rocket, these will take the 6.5 tonne car from 0 to 1,000 mph in just 42 seconds. The entire team at Stoke on Trent College is getting behind the two-day visit – with a multi-department approach that will see students given the chance to use the project as a springboard to showcase their own skills. It will also provide employers the opportunity to see how students from the College receive the necessary training to prepare them to become valued employees of the future. Andy Greenhough, Director of Employer Engagement at Stoke on Trent College, said: “We are delighted The Bloodhound full-size, super sonic show car is making this stop in North Staffordshire, at our Burslem campus. “It is an event that will offer a great experience for the area’s business community. As well as hearing guest speakers, they can see how the car’s visit is part of an ongoing process where our students gain a real education, which sets them up to go and succeed in the workplace. “In addition this is an excellent opportunity for employers to see how Stoke on Trent College can support their business with our wide range of training and consultancy services.” The Bloodhound Super Sonic car is set to tackle the World Land Speed Record in 2013 on the Hakskeen Pan, South Africa. The site offers a 12 mile track, across a dry lake bed – providing the space for the Bloodhound, which is designed to cover 16 km in 100 seconds, to travel at 1.4 times the speed of sound and faster than a bullet fired from a Magnum 357.
