April 8, 2011 - PRLog -- How do you go about creating keyword rich pages (KRPs), a crucial element to any SEO strategy? Looking up to professional SEO copywriters is an option, but many businesses somehow end up overlooking this crucial SEO element. Here is a do-it-yourself guide that draws a good insight into what it takes to come up with keyword rich content for your site.

For a start, you need to know how to pick the right keywords for your content. Once through with that, you are then left to optimize the content for the selected keywords.  This again brings into picture a combination of on and off-page elements that ought to be optimized to the furthest in order to press home a complete SEO advantage.

The Title Tag
Most search engines display Title Tags on the SERPs. Therefore, a Title tag must not only begin with the target keyword but also be attractive enough to catch on with the users as well. Say you are a fashion warehouse who targets “latest fashion trends” to promote your business. In lieu of putting up “latest fashion trends” you can better use “latest fashion trends that stand tall” or “latest fashion trends to hold on to”. If you are a geo-specific line, you can even consider “latest fashion trends of the Mediterranean” and so on to get a Keyword Rich Page for your site.
Meta Keywords Tag
It is quite a fact that Meta Keywords tags have lost favor with search engines. Today, you will hardly come across a search engine crawl that attaches any significant value to Meta Keywords tag. Nevertheless, just to steer clear of any ruts, it is still a known practice to include some keywords under the Meta Keywords Tag.  Just keep it simple—spin up some variants for the keyword in a mix of upper, lower case characters, and keep the iterations for a particular keyword down to two or three.

The on-page content
Now is the time to deal with what actually goes on the page. Let’s keep with the aforesaid illustration, and consider that your fashion site has a few images to it (of course it will, a business promoting fashion has to be have high pictorial content). First, check off each picture for an Alt tag. Now for the tag itself, it should hold your keyword just once and the keyword itself needs to start off the tag. Words, other than the keyword can be included but the tag should begin with the keyword.
•   The Headings: Search Engines love headings with H1 tags, so it’s best to keep with those standards.  Your keyword must make it to page heading, possibly at the start, a good keyword phrase can also be considered.

•   The Text: Moving on to the text, most search engines walk over Meta Description tag indisposed; instead the opening lines of the text are generally picked for page description. Hence the first few lines of the page are, in effect, a calling card to your site; make them juicy but relevant to matter and it will work fine for you.

•   Keyword density and Keyword incorporation:  The heart and soul of your page, as far as on-page content goes, lies in keyword-text blending and the keyword density of course. Your primary, or target keyword should be the most used of all other keywords. It’s a good idea to have the keyword going once in every paragraph-- which ideally should be brief and stacked up to make a logical context for the content.
Olden days saw sites stuffing up keywords ad hoc within the content, and that was enough to go up on search engine rankings. That is by far not the case anymore with modern-day search engines weighing up your site on quantity as well as content. Most search engines are fine with a keyword density of 2-4%, anything beyond I would say is unrealistic to aspire for and all the more, it may deem your site a spam to search engine crawls. Once again, how you place keywords within the text is instrumental in how search engines rank your page; don’t just stuff, but blend it seamlessly with the text.

•   Internal Linking: A great way to buy more purchase on search engine crawls is linking keywords or phrases to other pages on your site, search engines are suckers for intelligent internal linkages. If you link pages such that corresponding pages share the keyword in their tags/ file names, you will hit the nail straight on its head.

•   Home Page links: If the page you have created is all about outbound links, it loses favor with search engine bots almost instantly. The trick is to have some inbound links for the page as well and the best way to go about that is your home page. A good trick here would be to create a small image and give it the same name as the page you have created, say ‘latest fashion trends’ in this case. Add this transparent image to the bottom of the home page and link it up with page you have just developed. Both—the image and the page—will now be linked under a common file name and be picked up by search engine crawls much to your advantage.
