April 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Grindhouse legend Ted V. Mikels will make a rare public appearance this Thursday at theatre7 in Las Vegas as part of a film series celebrating him during the month of April.

Located in the arts district at 1406 South 3rd Street, Las Vegas, NV 89104, theatre7 is hosting a Ted V. Mikels Thursday series. Astro-Zombies M3: Cloned, the latest finished film from Mikels, screens April 7 to kickoff the event.

Mikels has decided to take a break from filming his current production Astro-Zombies M4: Invaders From Cyberspace to meet and great fans at the screening.

"This is super exciting," said Derek Stonebarger, the owner of theatre7. "I'm a big fan of Ted's and just showing his films is exciting, but having him here at my theatre and getting to watch M3 with him, that is too cool."

Mikels, who has been apart of more than 300 projects in a career that has spanned 60 years, turns 82 on April 29, which also happens to be the birthday of Stonebarger.

"I admire what Derek is doing with theatre7," Mikels said. "This place could turn into something really special for Las Vegas. Hopefully people come down and have a blast."

Mikels' 1982 classic Ten Violent Women, which remains one of the highest selling of all the films in his catalog, will play April 21. His 1971 drive-in gem The Corpse Grinders rounds out the series on April 28.

"There aren't many of the legends of grind still with us," said Chad Clinton Freeman, a programmer at theatre7. "Herschell Gordon Lewis and Ted are at the top of a very short list of greats still standing. So having Ted be apart of what we are doing really means a lot."

Mikels plans on bringing a handful of DVDs on Thursday to sell of Astro Zombies M3: Cloned, which is also screening at the Treasure Coast International Film Festival on April 28 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Also playing theatre7 this month are the Vegas-made features One Long Day, You People, I.M. Caravaggio, Thor at the Bus Stop, a short film showcase of local talent, and free screenings of past 48 Hour Film Project winners.

In addition to movies, theatre7 is an art gallery with a showing April 15, while a Nevada play Oscar, A Goodman will be put on through the month of May. The venue will host the Second Annual PollyGrind.com Fest in October.

Tickets to theatre7 screenings are $7 and include a choice of popcorn, soda or candy. Showtimes are 7 p.m.
