Tameron Hyundai announces Hyundai passes Mazda as top car seller

April 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Israel's new cars market posted record car sales in the first quarter of 2011. In January-March 2011, 62,200 new vehicles were delivered, up 24% from the corresponding quarter of 2010. In March alone, 24,000 new vehicles were delivered, 29% more than March last year.
The sharp rise can be explained by several factors including pre-Passover seasonal purchases by leasing car companies, intensive sales campaigns supported by convenient financing and private leasing terms, and the start of deliveries of new and sought after models that were launched at the start of 2011.

Israel's top selling car brand for the first time in many years was Hyundai, which delivered 8,014 vehicles in the first quarter of 2011, up 8.1% from the corresponding quarter last year. In March alone, Hyundai delivered 3,800 vehicles.

In second place in the first quarter of 2011 was Mazda, which delivered 7,673 vehicles, down 2% from the corresponding quarter.

In third place was Toyota with 6,118 deliveries, a rise of 17%. In fourth place was Kia with 4,227 deliveries, a sharp rise of 46% from the corresponding quarter, followed by Chevrolet in fifth place with 3,445 deliveries, up 26% from the corresponding quarter.

Sources in the car industry in Israel say that March was an exceptional month and that the second quarter figures will be more modest.
