STM32circle.com Starts OpenWorld Contest Registration

Register now to win $20,000 in cash prizes for applications based on STM32. www.stm32circle.com registration is open for the OpenWorld design contest promoting development of technologies for human-assistance applications.

March 30, 2011 - PRLog -- OpenWorld is a technology promotion of the "Autonomie" project – a collaborative industry-research consortium for the development of integrated electronic technologies that facilitate access to public spaces and services for the handicapped.

$20,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to participants with innovative and useful electronic applications designed to assist people, with any of a variety of disabilities or limiting medical conditions. Application designs are based on the STM32 microcontroller and

the EvoPrimer development platform which features:
• STM32 ARM Cortex-M3 based MCU
• A portable, battery-operated demonstrator and development platform (includes LCD touch screen, codec-based audio, SD card, IrDa and peripherals like I2C, SPI, USART, CAN, ADC, ...)
• Free software tool set (GCC compiler, IDE, debugger and programmer)
• Extension capability for addition of RF chips, GPS, sensors and more

Users also benefit from more than 100 sample applications and a programming utility and API called CircleOS that facilitate their first steps in developing their applications on STM32 devices.

Users who register and enter concepts now, can win EvoPrimer tools to support their application development. Contest information and registration form are available via www.stm32circle.com. Prizes for the OpenWorld design contest are sponsored by STMicroelectronics,

ST-Ericsson, the SMTC and the Grenoble-Alpes Metropole. $20000 in cash prizes will be awarded to contest winners, as well as numerous tool awards. The contest is open to participants worldwide.

The OpenWorld application design contest is organized into two main phases: ‘Concept Proposal’ and ‘Development’. The submission of concept proposals is available from March 15, 2011. Entrants need only to register on the contest site, www.stm32circle.com, and submit their concept. There is no limit to the number of concept proposals that a participant may submit. Winners of the Concept Phase will be awarded an EvoPrimer for the STM32 micro controller, plus software tools, to support them in the creation of their applications.

Participants have until December 2011 to create and submit their applications, which will be judged by a panel consisting of members of the Autonomie consortium. Applications will be judged on their technical merits, as well as in their utility to the disabled, who will be the end users of the applications.

Raisonance, is engaged in the Autonomie project to encourage the application of microelectronic technologies in applications that assist people with sight impairments to participate in daily life. This effort includes the conception of development platforms for and hardware accessories like EvoPrimer and a sensor card implementing MEMS gyroscope, magnetometer, accelerometer and a pressure sensor which can be implemented in creative new applications and systems that assist people with a variety of handicaps or limiting disabilities.
