March 29, 2011 - PRLog -- At the crosswalk on Hooper Avenue and Firestone Boulevard in the South Los Angeles town of Florence, California, a 59 year old female crossing guard was allegedly beaten in front of approximately 20 children leaving school with their parents.

The crossing guard supposedly tried to stop a black Ford Expedition after the suspects allegedly told the guard they were not going to stop.  Thinking of the children, the guard told the sheriff that she told the suspects in the vehicle, “You have to stop, the children come first.”

After the crossing guard raised her sign in the air and told the vehicle to stop, according to a statement issued earlier, the suspects supposedly exited the vehicle one at a time, with the female suspect, Vanessa Del Pilar Martinez, 20, allegedly attacking the crossing guard.

The male suspect, 27 year old Jose Hernandez, according to reports, exited the vehicle second and took the crossing guard’s stop sign and whistle, then reentered the vehicle with the female suspect and drove east down Firestone out of view.  The children and adults surrounding the guard were said to have witnessed the entire event, with some having written down a license plate number of a Ford Expedition.

The deputies arrived on the scene to find the crossing guard with bumps and bruises, but the guard refused medical treatment.  The Century Station deputies later traced the suspected vehicle to a home in the Florence-Firestone area where they allegedly located two suspects and a stop sign.

According to Lt. Michael Thatcher of the sheriff’s Century Station, Hernandez and Martinez, the alleged suspects, are expected to be booked for robbery with bail set at $50,000 each.

After both suspects were held to answer, Jose Hernandez teamed up with the premier Santa Ana criminal defense http://www.aguilarsonnonstine.com/ legal team at Aguilar & Sonnonstine, APC.  The firm is known for their ability to successfully litigate in and out of the court room with an array of criminal defense charges, including DUI, violent crimes, carjacking, assault & battery and theft crimes.
