Statement from Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) Regarding Earthquake in Japan

March 16, 2011 - PRLog -- As you have no doubt heard, Japan suffered a major natural disaster this past weekend. Our thoughts are naturally with the people of Japan as they recover from this unprecedented event.  Below is a statement from Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries with their latest assessment of how the situation affects our people and our business.  We will update you as soon as more information is available.

Subaru plants are based in and to the west of Tokyo (rather than the northern region most affected) and have not suffered serious damage due to this disaster.

All FHI employees are safe and no one was killed during the earthquake and after effects.
However, due to the impact of the disaster on the country, FHI has decided to suspend production at all Subaru plants until earliest Wednesday, March 16th.

For a restart of production after Thursday, March 17, FHI will make a decision considering such factors as electric power supply and availability of parts.

FHI is still confirming the availability of parts supply from suppliers who have suffered damage due to the disaster.

FHI is still assessing the situation at its suppliers, dealers and the possible impact on production and exports to overseas markets. Therefore FHI can make no comment on the total impact as of today.

SIA in Indiana will continue to run as usual this week and the factory is conducting its own parts supply assessment.
