March 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Since December 2010, a number of Middle Eastern and North African countries saw a wave of unprecedented revolutionary protests and mass public movements. Factors which can be attributed to the reason behind these revolutionary waves range from dictatorship, human rights violations, food insecurity and food supply shortages, political and socioeconomic marginalization, and factors that led to a revolutionary situation list the applicability and effectiveness of modern social media technologies and youth mass mobilization as critical ingredients for success.

Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya have seen revolutions of historical consequence, Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Oman, and Yemen have all seen major protests, and minor incidents have occurred in Kuwait, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, and Western Sahara. The protests have shared techniques of civil resistance in sustained campaigns involving strikes, demonstrations, marches and rallies, as well as the use of social media such as Facebook and Twitter to organize, raise awareness and mobilize the masses in the face of repression and Internet censorship by the state. Wiki-leaks exposed the reality of the United States’ international power and the true face of its diplomacy and foreign relations. Unfortunately, by virtue of timing, it has pinned the blame on the Obama Administration even of the fruits it reaped from seeds sowed by other (previous) administrations.
