March 7, 2011 - PRLog -- These days, you might feel like you’re climbing a slippery slope and your paychecks just don’t seem to be making much progress up the hill. You might even be slipping backwards, sucked down by rising expenses. But there’s good news! If God has numbered even the hairs on your head, He certainly cares about the numbers involving your pocketbook.

Praying for his wisdom, along with financial management and planning can break the cycle of debt and increase your wealth over time—even if you’re starting out with very little. But if you never take time to explore your options, you’ll never know what’s out there that could make an incredible difference in the future for you or your family.

The Bible teaches us, “Know where you are headed, and you will stay on solid ground.” (Proverbs 4:26, CEV) If you were going to spend a year at sea on a boat, it would take planning. So would building a sports team or running for public office. Almost everything worthwhile requires some level of planning; achieving financial success is no different. You need specific goals, and a plan for achieving them.

If you aim at nothing, you’ll likely end up nowhere with nothing. Do you really want to allow chance or other people to dictate your financial future? Do you want to passively accept what the world throws at you and pretend you can’t change a thing? You might find yourself up the proverbial creek without a proverbial paddle. Don’t leave yourself vulnerable when it’s in your power to make a difference!

Now, even if you’ve got a steel trap for a mind, life makes it tough to remember, work towards, and achieve your goals if they’re not written down. Financial goals written on paper are always more real than those that stay in your head.

Written goals have a way of feeling “official” and undeniable. They’re harder to rationalize away. And written goals are easier to modify and refer back to when things get tough. So get out a sheet of paper and get ready to make some plans. I’ve also made it very easy for you with worksheets to help get you started in “Women, Get Answers About Your Money.”
