Cyclists Expected on Broward Streets Sunday

March 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Hundreds of cyclists are expected to crowd western Broward Streets on Sunday, March 6th, 2011. The cyclists will be taking part in the Southeast Florida Tour de Cure. The Tour de Cure is a series of fundraising cycling events held nationwide. The purpose of the events is to benefit the American Diabetes Association.

The event is not a bike race. It's a ride with routes for everyone from beginning to experienced cyclists. There are three scheduled events. The first is a 35-mile route. It will run south of I-595 and west of Flamingo Road. The second is a 65-mile route. It will run from Miramar Parkway to McNab Road. The third is a 100-mile route. It will run from Miramar to Parkland. All three routes begin and end at C.B. Smith Park.

Riders will be on the roads from 7am Sunday morning to 2pm Sunday afternoon. Deputies from the Broward Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit will assist in traffic control, but Broward car drivers need to be aware of the cyclists as well.
