Hollywood Man Killed After Crash

Feb. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- A Hollywood man died after an early morning crash February 20th, 2011. The man, 23, had been driving westbound on Sheridan Street in Hollywood, Florida. He was stopped at a red-light when he was rear-ended by another vehicle. The accident happened at about 2am.

The victim was driving a 2007 Ford Fusion. The vehicle that rear-ended the Fusion was a 2000 Ford van. According to the Hollywood Police Department, both vehicles were pushed across the intersection into the eastbound travel lanes.

The victim was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. The driver of the van was hospitalized as well, but was released the same day. Criminal charges are pending against the driver of the van.

Apparently, the victim had been heading to pick his sister up from work at Flanigan's Seafood Bar and Grill in Pembroke Pines. The car he was driving was actually his sister's. He had borrowed it to pick his sister up. When the victim never showed up to pick his sister up, the sister had asked a friend for a ride home. Near University Drive, she saw a group of police vehicles and her own vehicle, which her brother had been driving. She was told at the scene that her brother had been rushed to the hospital.

The victim was planning on beginning work at Flanigan's with his sister. He was also going to enter into the nursing program at Broward College. His family is planning a memorial service this coming Sunday. The victim leaves behind a 2-year-old niece, a 5-year-old nephew and his father.
