CUSTOMS Info Makes its Duty and Tax API Public

Feb. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- EDEN, Utah – CUSTOMS Info and Global Data Mining LLC (CiGDM) today announced the public availability of its duty and tax application programming interfaces (APIs).  The availability of these APIs enables e-commerce platforms, global trade management (GTM) applications, product life cycle management, and other applications to automatically access the most accurate, up-to-date duty and tax information in real time.

“We decided to make our API public based upon increasing demand for our data,” said Ron Lackey, president, CUSTOMS Info (Ci).  “E-commerce platforms, supply chain software and global trade management software providers will find this a quick and efficient way to pull international trade data from our massive database which includes duty and tax data for 140 countries and territories. The APIs are public for anyone to test. Once they are ready to go live, we will engage with them on a business level.”

Once a potential partner downloads the documents, they can begin coding their interface to the Ci database.  Free credentials, email support, and test data will be provided for interested partners and customers.

Clients can use the API to classify imports or to obtain international mapping (classification) tools.  Once the products are classified, Ci provides the appropriate duty and tax information.  If a company already has its goods classified to HS-6 (the first six digits of a harmonized tariff code), Ci can return the fully qualified tariff options for international destinations.  

“If clients would rather house our duty and tax data directly on their servers, we can provide that service as well,” added Lackey.
