| Paul Wormeli Named One of Government Technology’s Top 25 in 2011The IJIS Institute is proud to announce that Paul Wormeli, Executive Director Emeritus of the IJIS Institute, has been named one of Government Technology’s Top 25 in 2011.
By: The IJIS Institute Mr. Wormeli was a pioneer in law enforcement technology in the 1960s and has parlayed his career into greater success in the fields of law enforcement and justice technology. He has been active in the development of software products, has managed system implementation for dozens of agencies throughout the world, and has managed national programs in support of law enforcement and criminal justice agencies. Mr. Wormeli was also the first chairman of the Integrated Justice Information Systems Industry Working Group (IWG), formed in 1999 at the request of the U.S. Department of Justice to help facilitate the implementation of integrated justice information systems throughout the nation. In this capacity, he facilitated the founding and organization of the IJIS Institute into which the IWG was eventually merged. Mr. Wormeli recently retired as Executive Director of the IJIS Institute after 5 years in that role, and now supports its mission and continued growth by serving as its Executive Director Emeritus. “Paul Wormeli is one of the nation’s premier thought leaders in the field of information sharing in criminal justice, public safety, and homeland security,” said Mike Lyons, President of the IJIS Institute Board of Directors. “With over 50 years of dedicated service and experience, Paul has always been on the leading edge of technology and information sharing. The fact that he is listed as one of Government Technology’s Top 25 List is a great tribute to his distinguished career and all that he has accomplished in the public sector.” Winners of Government Technology’s Top 25 List of Doers, Dreamers & Drivers in Public Sector Innovation are chosen based on their use of technology to increase government performance, enhance efficiency and strengthen citizen services. The Top 25 List will be in the March issue of Government Technology. Those who have been selected come from state and local government, academia, private and non-profit sectors.
