Follow on Google News | Friday Night ‘A La Mode’ Brings Culture and Diversity to LFWThe opening night of London Fashion Week kicked the biggest event in the British fashion calendar off to a flying start. A broad range of styles, backgrounds and influences graced the stage at the off-schedule A La Mode event, hosted by LGN Events.
By: LGN Events Annah Stretton Veuve Cliquot Businesswoman of the Year and dedicated campaigner against cruelty to animals, Annah Stretton opened the show with her collection that paid tribute to British history entitled “The War of the Roses”. Incorporating a vibrant mix of purple leopard print, red tartan and taffeta and floral fabrics, the collection evoked the essence of British eccentricity. W: www.annahstretton.co.nz Berit New York Returning to A La Mode for her second season, Brit Frady-Williams presented her stunning “Cosplay-meets- W: www.beritnewyork.com RAJADANO Ethnic bag label Rajadano exhibited her SS11 designs last LFW at LGN Events’ Fashion Week closing party, Jalouse Rocks. Since then, her work has received widespread attention from buyers and she has been able to move into the realms of official off-schedule LFW events. The line has also been extended to include a range of scarves. Her collection struck a chord with much of the audience who were surprised to see accessories so elegantly presented in a catwalk show. W: www.rajadano.com MAJINJOO Recent MA Graduate from The London College of Fashion Jin Joo Ma presented her quirky yet wearable debut collection under the label MAJINJOO. Employing jersey, chunky knitwear and glitter panelling into her designs, Jin took inspiration from her MA pieces to create a more street-style friendly line. W: www.majinjoo.blogpost.com US Trendy presents RUMPLEMUNKEH Rochelle Carino was the lucky winner of UsTrendy’s competition to win a spot on the A La Mode catwalk. Offering a range of styles from peacock feather embellished dresses to leather trouser and silk top combos, Rochelle gave the audience of fashion press and buyers a more commercial offering for AW11. W: www.rumplemunkeh.com W: www.ustrendy.com Rehmali Maria Rehmali started her fashion career as a stylist and employed her experience gained in this role to structure her first collection which she debuted at LFW at the A La Mode event. Sourcing only the finest leather and paisley patterned silk from Marrakech, the Rehmali label offers jumpsuits, evening dresses, tailored suits and a complimentary range of luggage and handbags. W: www.rehmali.com Cristina Nitopi This Australian designer was unable to attend the event however her latest collection was still presented and closed the opening night of A La Mode. The latest designs incorporated hardware chains, large plastic buttons and the ultimate trend of the season - bold colour blocking. Cristina also took this trend to the next level by employing floral prints in panel arrangements in her shift dress dominated collection.
