According to founder and President of EJL Wireless Research, Earl Lum, “The transition to remote radio (RRU) base station architecture is moving faster than we predicted. Base stations using RRUs comprised 45.1% of overall 1H2010 shipments with Nokia Siemens Networks the market leader in RRU shipments.” The new report provides a unique perspective on the global shipments and demand for base station equipment covering all air interface standards and frequencies and major OEMS including Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei Technologies, Motorola, Nokia Siemens Networks, ZTE, and Ericsson. “Nokia Siemens Networks was the overall leader in total base station unit shipments as well as for GSM shipments. Ericsson was the top supplier for both W-CDMA and next generation LTE shipments while ZTE captured the top positions for CDMA and TD-SCDMA,” notes Lum.
