Run with the Panthers to Support the Champions for Life campaign!

Feb. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- CORONA, California – The Corona Panthers Youth Track Club announced today its annual Run with the Panthers 5K Run/Walk, 5K Team Run & 1K Cub Fun Run fundraiser in partnership with The Promenade Shops at Dos Lagos on Saturday, May 7, 2011 to support the club’s youth scholar-athlete program and the Corona-Norco Unified School District’s elementary school track meet program as part of their Building Champions for Life Campaign.

In its commitment to placing prominence on exemplary performance in academics, athletics, and community service, the club donates a portion of the event proceeds to the Corona-Norco Unified School District’s elementary school track meet program to prevent its elimination due to the ongoing state budget cuts. Since the organization’s inception, it has awarded more than $12,000 in savings bonds to scholar-athletes with GPA’s over 3.0 and has more than 50 athletes ranking in the top 100 in the nation.  To instill a lasting sense of civic duty and philanthropy among its young runners, the club actively participates and works closely with the 100 Mile Club, Kiwanis Club of Norco, Eastvale Boosters, Corona Elks Lodge, Corona-Norco Family YMCA, and other local non-profit organizations.

This year, the run will also feature a Team 5K category.  Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 teams and team members are also eligible for age group awards.  The top overall male and female finisher in the 5K Run will also receive a trophy. All 1K Cub finishers will receive a medal.  Since the 5K Run/Walk is sanctioned by the 100 Mile Club, participants will have the opportunity to earn miles while having a fun time.

97.1 AMP Radio, Nike, and Sylvan Learning Center will be on hand to support participants to finish strong!

Following the event, everyone is invited to the Dos Lagos Amphitheater for the awards ceremonies, prize merchandise and goodies from participating product sponsors, music, entertainment, and vendor expo.  Attendees are welcome to the exquisite dining and shopping at over 60 stores at The Promenade Shops at Dos Lagos after the finish line activities.

About the Corona Panthers Youth Track Club:
Corona Panthers Track Club was founded in 2006 by the supportive parents of Jeremy Beck, an 8 yr. old runner, whose dream was to start a comprehensive youth running program placing prominence on exemplary performance in academics, athletics, and community service.  With the help of his parents, Jeremy and Lorena Beck, the family pulled together their savings to invest in a program with the vision to mold Champions for Life!  

Since then, Jeremy Jr. has not only been involved in designing the uniforms, flyers, and website but also offering encouragement to give his peers the confidence to succeed and become stronger in their ability to overcome challenges.  It is through his passion, determination, and resolve that has turned this club into a successful educational youth running program motivating others to be committed and dedicated to the Champions for Life campaign!
