Microsoft Selects ATIES Corp as a Windows Azure Beta Program Member

Feb. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- The ATIES Corp cloud computing and IT consulting team now has the ability to work directly with Microsoft’s Windows Azure Beta Team to test and evaluate multiple offerings within the Windows Azure platform -- a cloud services operating system that serves as a development, service hosting and service management environment.  Windows Azure provides organizations with on-demand compute and storage to host, scale, and manage highly-scalable web applications on the internet through Microsoft datacenters.

The Microsoft Windows Azure Beta and SQL Azure CTP programs include several innovative cloud technologies that will allow our business consultants early access to several new technology solutions such as:

VM Role – A Virtual Machine (VM) Role makes the process of migrating existing Windows Server applications to Windows Azure easier and faster. This is especially true for the migration of Windows Server applications that have long, non-scriptable or fragile installation steps.  The license for Windows Server 2008 R2 is covered through Windows Azure VM Role licensing. At launch, customers can deploy Windows Server 2008 R2 for production use in the VM role. In addition, during the Windows Azure VM role beta, developers can use the 64-bit version of Windows Server R2 in the VM Role for production services.

Extra-Small Instance -- The Extra Small Windows Azure instance is designed to make the process of development, testing and trial easier for enterprise developers. The Extra Small instance will also make Windows Azure more affordable for organizations interested in running smaller applications on the Windows Azure platform.

Windows Azure Connect -- Windows Azure Connect provides a simple and easy-to-manage mechanism to setup IP-based network connectivity between on-premises and Windows Azure resources. This capability makes it easier for an organization to migrate their existing applications to the cloud by enabling direct IP-based network connectivity with their existing on-premises infrastructure. For example, a company can deploy a Windows Azure application that connects to an on-premises SQL Server database, or domain-join Windows Azure services to their Active Directory deployment.

Microsoft SQL Azure Data Sync – SQL Azure Data Sync is a cloud-based data synchronization service built on the Microsoft Sync Framework technologies. It provides bi-directional data synchronization and data management capabilities allowing data to be easily shared across SQL Azure databases within multiple data centers. The current release is Community Technical Preview 2 (CTP2).
