Student Loans: Cosigner or Not

Like is a cosigner really needed when applying for a student loan? The answer is Yes & No.

There are options available to everyone that can allow them to obtain a student loan without a cosigner, even if you have terrible credit. But don't assume every is great. Then there is the more usual option for the individual with not enough credit (usually younger individuals) or those with bad credit. And it is to simply utilize a cosigner. A cosigner is usually a good idea because it is a shared responsibility, giving yourself a safety net on the loan. For example, if you cannot pay your loan each month your cosigner (if intelligent) is obligated to pay so that their credit isn't ruined.
