Feb. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- The ultimate goal in breeding an Australian Labradoodle should be to produce an extraordinarily sociable friendly family companion. That is wonderfully playful, witty and easy to train.

There are three coat types; Hair, Fleece and Wool; and there are three sizes of Australian Labradoodles: Standard, Medium and Mini.

F1 – This is a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. This breeding can produce Hair coats.  They are NOT Hypo-allergenic or shed-free. It may not be suitable for anyone with asthma or allergies to dogs.  This is considered a Foundation dog.

F1B – This is an F1 bred back to a Labrador Retriever or a Poodle, typically a Poodle.  This is also considered a Foundation dog.

Australian Labradoodle - Also known as a Multi-gen or Multigenerational Labradoodle.  This is the result of the pairing one multi-gen to multi-gen or an F1B to another F1B. Most of the parentage originated from Australia. This is the best choice for anyone with allergies or asthma due to their low to non-shedding and hypo-allergenic qualities.

Although the Australian Labradoodle was originally a Labrador and Poodle cross in the 90′s there were other breeds introduced into the lines.  Introduced were the English and American Cocker Spaniels, Irish Water Spaniel and the Curly Coated Retriever.  Most common today is the Labrador, Poodle and Cocker Spaniels.

In my next post I will discuss how to find a responsible breeder and what questions to ask to find the right dog/puppy for your family.
