The Brightest Lights newly released CD now available

The Brightest Lights is the brainchild of Matt Johnson.  He started playing music with a mutual friend in the early summer of 2009.  This then this dynamic duo decided to use a group of 15 plus songs that Matt had written over the course of the past 4 years.  After Matt met Sean McLauchlin of 37 Foot Productions at a local showcase, Matt handed these 15 plus songs on demo to him.  This sparked a serious interest from Sean.  Ryan (drummer) and Chris (multi-instrumentalist) were brought in to round out the line up as Cory (a mutual friend) played bass.  With Matt on guitar(s) and vocals, the group began to tour regionally and began recording over the 2010 year.  After Cory left the band, The Brightest Lights current bass player, Gordon Walters entered the picture.  Matt and Gordon had played previously in locally famed The Widescreen Edition.  In September of 2010, they wrapped up production on their CD and began the work of mixing, arranging and mastering.  This was done with Jeff Lipton at Peerless Mastering.  With their debut CD in hand, The Brightest Lights is now setting their sights on touring at different venues and getting on college radio stations.  

The Brightest Lights lead single “Breathe In” is off of their debut self-titled CD.  This song is a paradigm between seeking to live as the key to life and for others, this is what kills them.  “It’s a heavy fascination with the respiratory system and its larger existential metaphorical value”, states Matt.  The song’s quick movement and high energy is a segway into a lyrical journey.  This song has beautiful harmonies, with perfectly balanced musical accompaniment that draws you into their vision and into the meaning of this song.   This song very radio friendly has appeal to many arenas.
 
There is no direct connection between this single and the CD as a whole.  It is more of a collection of ideas – experimentation and sonic development.  It is a jumping point for this group as they find ideas and begin their creative process.  

Matt and Gordon collective work has landed them on an opening slot for Geffen recording artists ‘Lifehouse’ as well as headlining shows at major clubs in cities like Boston, New York and New Jersey.  
They look forward to working on some college tours at this style of music is favored by college students and other age groups alike.
