DMi Partners Celebrates Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Jan. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- More than a dozen employees from DMi Partners (http://www.dmipartners.com), including CEO Patrick McKenna, celebrated the national Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service (http://mlkday.gov/index.php) by helping students and staff from the YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School (http://www.youthbuildphilly.org/) to revive the historic North Philadelphia Athletic Recreation Center.  

As part of the commemoration of Dr. King’s legacy of community service, volunteers from DMi spent their Monday building bookshelves and benches, painting, and preparing healthcare kits.  The renovation of the recreation center will provide residents of Brewerytown with access to a wide range of facilities, including a basketball court, a computer room, and a library.  

McKenna, a member of YouthBuild’s Board of Trustees, commented, “For us, reaching out and making a difference in the community is a year-round commitment.  We are, however, enormously pleased to be able to work with the great students and staff of YouthBuild on this project in celebration of Dr. King’s tradition of service.  We hope that the work we have done on the recreation center will have a positive impact on the local community and provide new opportunities.”  

YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School provides a unique program that gives out-of-school youth a chance to earn their diplomas through a blend of rigorous academic curriculum and on-the-job training through community service.
