Jan. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- On January 18, 2011, Alley Cats and Angels of North Carolina will hold a $10 spay/neuter clinic for friendly and feral cats in the Triangle, NC area.  This spay day will be performed by the SNAP-NC mobile unit and spay/neuter and vaccinations will be provided for up to 45 cats.  This event is being sponsored through a grant from the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, www.aspca.org) and a matching donation from First Insurance Services.

Tia Hagnas, President and Founder of Alley Cats and Angels, said “Most people know there is a dire cat overpopulation situation, but many do not realize the extent of the situation.  More than 6 million companion animals enter our nation’s shelters each year, of those entering shelters, over 3 million are euthanized.  Spaying and neutering is the only 100% proven way to reduce these numbers and prevent the tragedy of overpopulation. Alley Cats and Angels is committed to helping end pet overpopulation through our Alter an Alley Cat program which provides spay/neuter assistance.”

If you are unable to afford to spay/neuter and vaccinate your pet cat or feral cats, please contact Alley Cats and Angels.  In addition, to their January 18th spay day, they are sponsoring a free spay day on February 22, 2011 in honor of National Spay Day, as well as other low-cost spay days throughout the year.  Alley Cats and Angels asks you to help them save lives by donating to their Alter an Alley Cat Program to help offset the costs of these and future spay days.

Alley Cats and Angels (www.alleycatsandangels.org) is not your typical cat rescue – they focus on the unwanted and forgotten. In addition to their adoption program, they have a barn cat program, feral cat education/assistance/TNR program, and an Alter an Alley Cat spay/neuter assistance program. The Alter an Alley Cat Program provides sponsored and subsidized spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations for pet cats owned by and feral cats cared for by individuals on with limited incomes or on government assistance. People requesting spay/neuter assistance are referred to them by the Alley Cats and Angels website, feral cat caregivers, and other rescue groups. The Alter an Alley Cat Program is just another example of their ongoing commitment to help end pet overpopulation.

Alley Cats and Angels is a non-profit organization and has 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. All donations made to Alley Cats and Angels are tax deductible.
