Here are some tips for time management in the workplace:

• Safeguard your peak performance time - some people are at their peak performance in the morning, and some are better workers in the afternoon. Whatever period of time you perform better in - try to make sure you safeguard it so people do not disturb you and waste your valuable peak performance time.

• Learn to say "No" - learning to say this very simple yet important word is imperative to time management in the workplace. Although we should be helpful to one another, sometimes we do need to say "no" if we have a heavy workload or have other more important priorities.

• Priorities your day - This is quite obvious, however not everyone has a written down list on how they can priorities their tasks for the day. We may have scribbled down 20 things to do for the day, however only 10 crossed out on our hastily written list, and at the end of the day you realize that none of the 'important' items were done. Yes, the to-do list needs priority... A's being the urgent things, B's that are good to be done, and C's if we have time but are not really that all important. Have you ever thought how long you procrastinate during the day? It is probably a lot longer that you thought as the minutes whizz by as you do it as you want to put off going back to work. Let's start a new motto - "Procrastination? Let's put that off!"

Time management in the workplace is a crucial key to success in the workplace. Personally mastering all these time management tools can relieve so much stress in the day, and make your department and company more synergistic and a better place to be in.
