In Mr. Springer’s article, he says, you must first choose a charity that you are passionate about then determine your contribution. “You can establish a budget for saving or if you have more time than money, you might consider volunteering,” Springer said.

Next, he suggests creating a schedule for your contributions in order to make donating easier, most charities are happy to set up a payment plan. Donating has many benefits including the warm feeling you get from helping those less fortunate, tax benefits and the ability to inspire others.

Keith Springer, who is president of Springer Financial Advisors in Sacramento, CA, started his own charity in 1999, which donates to the Sacramento Food Bank and the River Oak Center for Children, called the Springer Turkey Challenge. Last year, they helped feed over 10,000 families during the holiday season.
