Motorola to continue Android success with Honeycomb tablet in 2011

Motorola has experienced success in 2010 with smartphones including the FLIPOUT, Milestone 2 and DEFY. The electronics giant aims to build on this by releasing an Android tablet in 2011, which is likely to run the Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS.
Dec. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- To say that 2010 has been a successful year for Motorola would be somewhat of an understatement. By releasing a wealth of unique, highly popular Android smartphones, the electronics veteran has brought innovation, excitement and experience to the world of mobile communication.

So what does a company such as Motorola do after such an outstanding year? Rest on its laurels and enjoy the benefits of all its hard work?

Not for a second.

It continues to innovate, reinforcing the ground-breaking engineering that has made it one of the market leaders in the world of smartphones. But how can such a feat be achieved after the success of devices such as the Motorola FLIPOUT, the Motorola Milestone 2 and of course, the Motorola DEFY?

This is the question that everyone is asking, but it seems a comprehensive answer will not be revealed until the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2011. Thankfully, Clove Technology will be on-hand at the eagerly anticipated event to report the details fresh from the horse’s mouth.

So, what to expect?

At the moment details are scarce, but recent videos have shown a prototype of a 10-inch Motorola tablet running Android 3.0 Honeycomb. This week, a clever teaser video has been released by Motorola, which can be viewed here on the Clove Technology Blog. It sets CES 2011 as the stage for the revelation of a tablet to surpass this year’s heavyweights – the Apple iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

But is it not a bit late for Motorola to jump on the tablet bandwagon? Certainly not.

This year has seen some great tablet technology hit the market, but the best is yet to come and you can rest assured that Motorola will be a big part of this.  So far, Android tablets such as the Huawei S7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab have only been able to make use of Android 2.1 (Éclair) and 2.2 (FroYo). A tablet device running Android 3.0 Honeycomb – the version of the Google OS optimized specifically for tablet devices – will have something completely new to bring to the table.
