Hudson Valley Hospital Makes Wishes Come True for Children in Need

Hospital Staff donates 1,000 gifts for children and families in need. Staff spends day wrapping presents.

Dec. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Santa’s Helpers at Hudson Valley Hospital Center spent the afternoon  wrapping mountains of presents to make wishes come true for local children and their families.

In an annual tradition, Hospital staff wrapped 1,000 gifts that were donated to local social services agencies and delivered to families in need.  Pajamas and books, dolls, trucks, boots, socks and tons of toys were packaged in 90-minutes. The Hospital raised nearly $15,000 and spent $125 each on 107 children this year, surpassing its goal.
“Thanks to the generosity of staff and the community, we’ve raised enough money to buy gifts for 107 children this year – the largest amount since we began this tradition 15 years ago,’’ said Hudson Valley Hospital President John C. Federspiel.

The Hospital’s Santa’s Helper Committee began raising funds back in October to buy presents for children and families in need. The Westchester County Department of Social Services provides the Hospital with wish lists from families.
