Patrick Cullen describes his life in the 70’s as two lives living in parallel to each other; one life was in the church and the other was outside the church.  After he completed two religious albums which were published in 1976(“What We Are Together”) and 1977(“Harvest Rain”), he got his first job playing at a local restaurant bar.  He left the church as the music director in 1980.  He was now focused on being a professional musician/entertainer.  He self-produced his third album, “Town & Country” which was a fusion between pop/rock and country western.   He spent a year promoting this project while still playing various hotel and restaurant bars until 1988.

Once marriage came into the picture in 1983 and the children that followed, he decided to make a career change.  He went back to a church job at a different church in 1985 as Business Manager where he also became assistant to the music director.  That position flourished and kept him busy through four children and a successful career that he truly enjoyed.  The year 2000 ushered in more writing contemporary worship music which was suitable for Roman Catholic liturgical services.  These compositions began to grow.  This was when “Visions and Dreams” was born.  It was self-published in 2007.  This album contained some of the songs from the two previous religious recordings along with several songs from 2000-2006.

In 2007, the musical climate in the church began to change.  His four children were just about grown.  He once again developed interest in secular music again.  He began to write and started getting out into the music community, meeting up with some old friends, started jamming at clubs and found this second life.

Living these two different musical lives became a pattern that Patrick was accustomed to.  He understood the path that he was meant to follow and today, Patrick Cullen is now amongst the general public who’s been waiting for an album like this to be released.
On Patrick’s newest CD, “Old Dog, New Tricks”, a single titled “Be Who You Are” shows only one portion of the versatility of this solo artist.    The meaning of this single is simple - stop trying to be who you are not because you can’t hide the truth.    Live your life fearlessly without regret, without fraud and without fear.  This single doesn’t follow any particular recipe.  It is a unique song with catchy verses and an unconventional rhythm.  Patrick plays chords on his guitar during this song that you can’t describe.  This makes it stand out from not only other artist, but to his own music.   He is surely a versatile musician whose uniqueness transcends anything you’ve heard to date.

Patrick hosts an acoustic open-mic night every Tuesday evening at a local bar in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He also participates in a jam every Sunday evening with a band at a different bar.  From time to time he will sit in with other local bands.
