Dec. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Although many people think that concrete is a sturdy and permanent flooring option, this is often not the case. Though there is no doubt that concrete offers you a solid and sturdy flooring solution, there are a number of reasons which can commonly cause concrete floors to crack.
1.   Corrosion
When the steal that supports the concrete goes rusty it expands, placing a great amount of strain on the concrete. After some time this strain causes the concrete to crack, creating an uneven and unstable surface.
2.   Lack of support
If the material beneath the concrete is not suitable, usually due to the washout of soils or other material it can cause the concrete to crack and come apart- ruining your smooth, even floor.
3.   Uncoated flooring
If you have inadequate floor coating covering your floor, it increases the chances that it will deteriorate, become damaged and crack much quicker.
4.   Rising temperatures
If the temperature warms up it can cause thermal cracks to appear in concrete flooring. This causes the structures inside the concrete to expand, while the supporting materials underneath start to cool and contract, creating tension and damage in the form of cracking.
5.   Rainy  weather
Concrete pavements naturally accumulate water underneath, which over time freezes and thaws, creating ever growing cracks. These start underneath the concrete, at the base of the pavement and spread upwards.
6.   Drying causing concrete shrinkage
Most cement concrete is mixed with more water than needed when it’s mixed up, and when this water dries and evaporates it causes the concrete to shrink. This is the most common reason why concrete starts cracking.

If you have a cracked concrete floor, either at home or in the work place, not only is it unpleasant to look at, but more importantly it is a potential safety hazard for your family or work force.
