Land Use Expert Vicki Estrada Joins Groundwork San Diego’s Board of Directors

Dec. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Land planner Vicki Estrada has joined the board of directors at Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek, an independent, not-for-profit, environmental business that works within Southeast San Diego.

“As the author of the Chollas Creek Enhancement Program, Vicki has a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience regarding the watershed region,” said Leslie Reynolds, Executive Director for Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek. “We are extraordinarily fortunate to gain her expertise.”

A longtime San Diego resident and founder of Estrada Land Planning, Estrada’s resume includes work on the Balboa Park Master Plan, the Otay Ranch General Development Plan in Chula Vista, and the USMC Camp Pendleton Base Exterior Architecture Plan.

As a director at Groundwork, Estrada will support the organization with watershed planning and guide the group as it designs and develops pocket parks, trails and other amenities for residents.

Parlaying her involvement as chair of the City of San Diego’s Community Forest Advisory Board, Estrada will help Groundwork achieve more Chollas Creek-area tree coverage, which will provide environmental cleaning and serve as an amenity to the residents in the area.
Founded in 2007, Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek works in partnership with the City of San Diego and the Chollas Creek communities of Southeastern San Diego to improve the environment, economy and quality of life there. With the assistance of students, families, businesses, and partner organizations, Groundwork restores creek and open space, tracks and saves species, and provides educational outreach around conservation, clean water, and climate challenge issues. Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek is part of the Groundwork USA national network of trusts, in partnership with EPA and National park Service.
