Dec. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Here are 5 simple optimism tips for how to get out of a negative moment:

  1. Admit the pessimistic moment or bad attitude; do not deny it.  Embrace it and get ready to explore "Why?"
  2. Try to identify worrisome thoughts about the negativity.  Maybe you are feeling helpless and hopeless.
  3. Use internal self talk to explore your options.  Determine the CAN CONTROLS and don't worry about the CANNOTS.
  4. Recognize that some negativity is sticky and might not be immediately resolved.  However, understand that you can make the CHOICE to be positive.  You're tired of being negative and pessimistic anyway, right? It's NOT fun.
  5. Allow for a little catharsis. Also: find at least one thing from the day to be truly grateful for and then take a deep breath.
