More full time Jobs in Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan's employment numbers are increasing.Regina and Saskatoon had some of the lowest unemployment numbers in Canada. Regina's unemployment rate was 4.9 per cent and Saskatoon was at 5.6 per cent.

According to the latest figures from Statistics Canada, an additional 5,600 jobs were created in the province compared to a year ago. Most of the jobs were full-time.

The data, which is current to the end of November, was trumpeted Friday in a news release from the provincial government.

"Due to growing Saskatchewan economy and quality jobs being created, Saskatchewan is doing exceptionally y well compare to rest of Canada" said Navtaj Chandhoke, founder,Professional Real Estate Investors Group (PREIG) Canada.

Rob Norris, the minister responsible for employment matters, noted that the number of people looking for work has also increased. Norris attributed that to a growing provincial economy.

Saskatchewan's labor force is now 554,200 -- a new record, according to the province.The statistics reveal that about 30,000 people are looking for jobs, resulting in an unemployment rate of 5.5 per cent.

Information was also release Friday on the unemployment numbers in major Canadian cities. Regina and Saskatoon had some of the lowest unemployment numbers.
