First 2nd Generation Intel Core Processor Laptop Emerges from the water?

We spotted this day a couple of laptops which are apparently based on the Intel’s upcoming 2nd Generation Intel Core processor family, scheduled for release on January 5th, 2010, during the CES Show.

We’ve searched for more info on the new AMD Mobility Radeon HD 6550M mobile video card, and incidentally found an Acer Aspire 17.3-inch laptop model which has the Intel Core i7-2630QM (quad-core) processor, besides the 6550M graphics. The same CPU is present in a Gateway model, as well as in a Lenovo’s IdeaPad Y560P notebook.

The Core i7-2630QM CPU is believed to be one of next-gen 32nm chips based on “Sandy Bridge” microarchitecture. The mobile “Sandy Bridge” CPUs will incorporate new and improved performance boosting technologies and new integrated graphics. The 2nd Generation Intel Core processors are expected to be initially available in dual- and quad-core variants.
